As we have seen in the last episode, Rena Natsukawa asks Tsubasa Shiki out on a date. Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable Episode 8 opens with Minami Fuyuki following the two closely on their much-awaited date. She even manages to convince Sayuri Akino to be her partner in crime.
Shiki and Rena are sporting kimonos which makes Minami’s heart flutter. While Minami is impressed with them, Shiki and Rena are getting to know each other better, especially Rena who begins to understand Shiki better. Being the caring person that Shiki is, he also gifts her a doll from the arcade game.
All this while, Minami is following them and seeing Shiki, she further realizes that he cares and does his best for everyone. Always thinking of himself as an outsider, he still manages to work hard in this unknown place.
Then, we follow Shiki and Rena to the movie theatre. During the movie, Rena gets emotional over a scene and confesses to Shiki that nobody recognizes her hard work and dedication. She also expresses her gratitude to Shiki for being nice and understanding her sentiments. Following that, she asks Shiki if he has a girlfriend. He reveals that though he does not have one, he has made loving friends in Hokkaido who has allowed him to be ‘one of them’. Minami, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation, shows herself as she’s overwhelmed with emotions.
She introduces herself to Rena and confesses that she’s her big fan. Right at that moment, Minami’s mother shows up and invites the whole group to a Yakiniku party on the occasion of getting a bonus.
The Yakiniku party acts as a moment of enjoyment and solace for Rena, who realizes that there are people like Minami who recognize her hard work and dedication. After the party, Minami approaches Shiki to ask if Rena and Shiki are dating.
Confirming that he isn’t, Minami asks him out on a date. The episode ends with Shiki realizing that they are very close to spring break in Hokkaido.
