Episode 5 of Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! showed Minami inviting Sayuri and Shiki to a Karaoke party along with her other friends. She also told them that with Valentine’s Day coming up, she would make chocolates for everyone. Unfortunately, things got messed up when she accidentally ruined her homemade chocolates by spilling soy sauce on them.
The next day, Minami gives store-bought chocolates to everyone which upsets them. The only person who notices that something is off is Shiki. Later, Minami confesses to Shiki about her chocolate fiasco which prompts him to try and cheer Minami up by planning her favourite song on the piano. Sayuri, standing outside the music room, overhears them and gives the two friends chocolates. The episode ends with the trio celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Review of Episode 5
This episode was extremely heartfelt and sweet with its exploration of adolescence. The newfound friendship of the Minami, Shiki, and Sayuri stands at the beginning of everything. This episode could easily be made into a romantic endeavor but it spun the concept of Valentine’s Day around and made it a beautiful celebration of love and friendship.
Shiki’s care for the gyaru girls is becoming more prominent, thus creating an adorable atmosphere for love and friendship to grow. With each passing episode, Shiki is developing into a boy with a lot of tenderness and compassion — a whole green flag, which is making the audience anticipate the coming episodes more and more.
